FullWrite Professional was a word processor application for the Apple Macintosh,
released in late 1988 by Ashton-Tate during its period of infatuation with
the Mac.
Though it was released one year late and filled with bugs, it developed
a faithful following and a small amount of commercial success. Further
development ended when Borland bought the remains of Ashton-Tate in 1991,
but they were convinced to sell it to Akimbo Systems in 1994, who had little
luck selling against the now firmly-entrenched Microsoft Word. In 1998
Akimbo released the product as freeware.
